2023 Honoree: Debbie Cooper Jones, Class of 1973

Debbie is a 1973 graduate of Christ the King School and continues to be active in the parish continuously shari

ng her gifts of time, talent, and treasure. Debbie is a graduate of Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School and Oklahoma State University. Debbie and her husband, John Jones, have two sons who each graduated from Christ the King School. Ryan graduated in 2009 and Cory graduated in 2011. Debbie served in many different volunteer capacities while her boys were in school. She was a member of the School Advisory Committee, President of the PTO, Auction Chair, and she served on the CK Development Committee. Debbie was also a

consistent volunteer in the building, helping where she was needed. After her boys graduated she still continued to be part of the Christ the King School community by substituting when needed. Christ the King students, faculty and staff still benefit from all the hard work that Debbie gave during her years as a volunteer at Christ the King School.

Debbie’s volunteer opportunities go beyond Christ the King School. Debbie has always been very active in the Christ the King parish, serving where she is most needed. She is currently continuing her leadership role in leading a small group study (Gather Group), helping with funeral receptions, participating in the Women with Purpose Bible Study, and serving as an Extraordinary Minister

of Holy Communion. Debbie also has served outside of the Christ the King community, continuing to make an impact on many catholic institutions and organizations. Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School, the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, Catholic Charities (Green Tie Gala) and Villa Teresa School all have benefitted from Debbie’s volunteerism. Sunbeam Family Services, Payne Education Center, Andrew Johnson School, Ridgeview School, Junior League of Oklahoma City, OU Kappa Sigma Parent President, and Tri Delta sorority are more entities where Debbie has volunteered, continuing to make an impact for people in need. Debbie was also selected as a member of Leadership Oklahoma City, Class XIX.

Debbie’s dedication to service is demonstrated daily in the ways she spends her time; and Christ the King continues to benefit from her care for her community. Her contributions have made a positive impact and we are blessed that she is part of the Christ the King family.

Debbie will be honored at the 10:00 Mass on Sunday, January 29th. We hope you can join us as we recognize Debbie Cooper Jones as the 2023 Distinguished Graduate Award Recipient. This special Mass will help kick-off our celebration of Catholic Schools’ Week.
