| Music/Drama - Mr. Gambrell
Welcome to music at Christ the King School! St. Augustine wrote well that qui cantat bis orat---who sings twice prays. Every student at Christ the King learns the joy of singing, a deep reverence for God's holy gift to us, and a lifelong love for musicing. - Each student in grades K-6 attends General Music Classes twice a week. These classes include creative movement, drama, music literacy, composition, and appreciation.
- Students have the opportunity to participate in regional and state choral and instrumental festivals and competitions.
- Music and theatrical programs are publicly performed during the year. Smaller in-class programs throughout the grade levels are also performed for family and friends.
- Our choir sometimes tours in the spring, and has received local and national media attention through participation in The National Anthem Project. In the NBA arena we have performed pre-game music for a New York Knickerbocker game and sang the National Anthem to open an ---OKC[New Orleans] Hornets game; performed at Rocky's Bricktown Music Hall for the Ok Dental Foundation Awards Banquet; the Casady Square Christmas Tree Lighting; the Penn Square Holiday Concerts Series; the Southwest Liturgical Conference Study Week as part of the Archdiocesan Children's Choir and have received top ratings in Choral Festivals such as the Heartland Music Festival.
